ONE OWNER COLLECTION OF VINTAGE HEUER WRISTWATCHES

SATURDAY 28 NOVEMBER: COLLECTION OF VINTAGE HEUER WRISTWATCHES
AUCTION: GRAND HOTEL ET DE MILAN, MILAN

In order to acknowledge the quality of this fabulous collection of vintage Heuer wristwatches which is being put to auction at the end of this month, Patrizzi & Co Auctioneers has decided to divide its original auction, initially set for Sunday 29 November, into two sessions. The first session will take place on Saturday 28 November at 4 p.m., and will consist of the sale of the One Owner Collection of Vintage Heuer wristwatches, and the second session will take place on Sunday 29 November at 2:30 p.m. and will consist of the sale of Important Pocket watches, Wristwatches and Clocks. The two sales will take place at the majestic Puccini Sala of the Grand Hotel et de Milan in Milan.

Heuer was founded in Switzerland in 1860 by Edouard Heuer, and the company is perhaps better known today as: TAG Heuer, after the TAG (Techniques d’Avant Garde) – a company that manufactured high-tech objects for la Formule 1 – bought Heuer in 1985. Today TAG Heuer continues the company’s obsession with luxury precision instruments and sports.

The private Collection is the fruit of 30 years of passion and research and is made up of more than 300 pieces, but for this sale, only the most prestigious, rare and most sought after pieces will be put to auction. The auction will consist of 129 pieces – carefully selected under the expert eye of the Grimoldi family – experts in the field of watchmaking since the beginning of the métier.

Among the prestigious pieces offered for sale there is the historic Heuer “Steve McQueen” as worn by the actor during the filming of Le Mans. In this collection the watch is in its classic version with blue dial and white registers.

There are also several pieces in the auction dedicated to motor racing circuits such as Monza, Jarama, Silverstone, and Daytona.

Among the “pearls” of this sale, there are a group of pieces produced in limited series by Heuer under special order from such famous companies as: Harley Davidson, Agip and Coca-Cola, as well as a special personalized re-edition of the celebrated Carrera (N°2/20), produced in a limited edition of 20 to commemorate 20 years of the career of the famous Italian footballer Franco Baresi (lot 108).

Aficionados of complicated mechanical timepieces will not be disappointed either, in this sale there is an exceptional series of triple date chronographs.

The catalog for this auction is available in both a traditional printed format and on the Internet at www.patrizziauction.com. Several pieces will be exhibited at the Bespoke Milano, which takes place from 12 to 15 November at the Palazzo del Ghiaccio de Milan.

The totality of the pieces in this two-day auction – including the wristwatches, pocket watches and clocks being auction on 29 November 2009 – can be viewed from 24 to 29 November at Patrizzi & Co, Via Monte di Pietà, n°24.

Patrizzi & Co

Recognized as probably the world’s most important watch expert, Osvaldo Patrizzi, founder and chairman of Patrizzi & Co, trained originally as a watchmaker and then, spotting the growing interest of watch aficionados in collecting and buying these miniature masterpieces, he formed his first auction house.

Patrizzi was the first to develop thematic auctions as he watched the growth in market interest in specialist complication watch brands such as Patek Philippe, Cartier, Rolex, Swatch, Vacheron Constantin, and Omega – to name but a few.

Today, with his new auction house, Patrizzi offers even more benefits to watch collectors:

NO buyer’s commission: This represents the saving to buyers of between 20–25% of the hammer price, which most other major auction houses charge.

Five-year guarantee of authenticity: This guarantee eliminates what is often perceived to be the “risk factor” in buying important pieces via the Internet and includes an accurate and very detailed description of the quality of the piece(s) being purchased.

A choice of catalogs: Clients have a choice of purchasing a full color printed catalog or downloading their own personalized version of the online catalog onto their computer or new generation e-Book.
